Scenes

Pick a place to sit a while.

Each scene is generated by overlapping layers that fade in and out independently — never the same loop twice.

Now playing

Pick a scene to begin.

The mixer shows each layer in the active scene. Drag the sliders to rebalance — or mute a layer entirely.

Under the hood

No samples. No streams.

01

Synthesized from scratch

Every sound is generated live by the Web Audio API — oscillators, filtered noise, and hand-shaped envelopes. Not a single .mp3 crosses the wire.

02

Scheduled by chance

A cricket chirps when its random timer fires. A frog tunes to a sine wave. Each layer runs on its own clock, so the mix is never identical twice.

03

Reacts while it runs

The visualizer reads the live audio spectrum. Pull a layer's slider and watch its band light up — or mute it and watch it disappear.

More experiments

Built to be poked at, not sold.

Crickets is one of several prototypes built to chase a question. The rest are on the workbench — each runs entirely in the browser, no signup, no trackers.
